Task Response: you've said you agree, but not why or how far. A Band 7 position is clear and developed from the first sentence.Firstly, public transport is good for the environment because it reduces the number of cars.
Lexical Resource: "good for the environment" is Band 5–6 language. Try "lowers per-passenger emissions" — precise, not fancy. "Firstly" is fine; "First," is more natural.Illustrative extract written in the trainer's marking style to show the format — not a real student's work.
Writing is the module with the lowest average band for Indian test-takers, and the reason is rarely grammar alone. In the essays we mark every week, the same four problems account for most of the lost half-bands:
"To what extent do you agree?" needs a position and a degree. Most essays give a list of ideas about the topic and never commit.
Four paragraphs, each with three loosely related points. Band 7 needs one clear idea per paragraph, developed, with linking that doesn't look mechanical.
Rare words used slightly wrongly cost more than they earn. Precision beats decoration.
Band 7 requires "frequent error-free sentences". A long sentence with one article error is worth less than a shorter correct one.

Find Out What's Costing Me the BandEvery IELTS Writing task is marked on four criteria, each worth a quarter of the score. Most students have only a vague idea of what they mean, which is why they practise the wrong thing. Here is what each one asks, in plain terms.
For Task 2: a clear position on the actual question, kept through the essay, with ideas that are developed rather than listed. For Task 1: the key features selected and compared, with data, in enough words. Answering "the topic" instead of "the question" is the single most common reason a 6.5 stays a 6.5.
One controlling idea per paragraph, a logical order, and linking that feels natural. Overusing "Moreover, Furthermore, In addition" is not cohesion; it is decoration, and examiners can tell.
Band 7 wants some less common words used accurately and a sense of collocation. A memorised "advanced" word used slightly wrongly costs more than a plain word used correctly. Spelling and word formation count here too.
A mix of simple and complex sentences, with most sentences error-free. At 6.5 the range is often there but the error rate is too high; at 7 the majority of sentences are correct.

Task Response: "I am agree" states agreement but gives no reason or degree — a Band 7 position says how far and why. Grammar: "for get" → "for getting"; "I am agree" → "I agree"; "education give" → "education gives". Three errors in two sentences keeps this below 7. Lexical: "very important", "many benefits" are safe but vague; name the benefit.
"Many people believe a university degree is essential for securing a good job. I largely agree, because for most professional careers a degree is still the entry requirement, although practical experience is increasingly valued."
